Hi all,
I post here because maybe this is a feature already implemented in some GUI Encoder.

I'm looking for a way to automate the encoding process and put a deinterlace filter only if needed.
I found :
http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/Interlace_detection
And I know MeGUI has this check that can be run manually.

I was looking for an alternative, since this way is quite slow and not always reliable for my needs.

Is there an alternative method?
Would make sense to apply always a deinterlace filter?
I guess no because it increases encoding time and probably it can "spoil" an encoding from progressive source.

Thanks in advance
Bye

AutoGK, MeGUI and AutoMKV do auto detection I think, there are probably deinterlace filters that won't do too much harm. I don't know about NTSC as things are more complicated there but for PAL I think it's faster to do it manually.
