Please, please someone help me with this as its driving me mad. I have windows xp and want to record audio on my computer from an outside source, through the front panel microphone jack which is pink.
I can hear the sound that I want to record but when it comes to using a program such as audacity or goldwave no sound records.I have also found that if I play a song on windows media player and then try and record using goldwave that wont record either.
Incidently I have also been trying to record homevideo using nerovision and the red, white and yellow jacks at the front panel and while I receive video no audio is recording. Through the red and white jacks I get no sound from the camcorder, but through the microphone I do, and the only way I can lower the volume is to go to realtek hd sound effects manager, mixer tab and lower the playback, if I try to lower it down using windows volume control it doesn't make any difference.
There are no exclaimation marks anywhere in device manager. I have two possibilities for sound recording in sound and audio devices in the control panel, Realtek HD audio input, and Medion bda analogue audio capture, and I'm not sure what to be using. I used to be able to record in this way before (not home video) but then my computer broke and I cant remember the settings I was using before. I am pretty sure I used to use the red and white aux in, but not sure, maybe the man who fixed it, unhooked them or something. Any help would be gratefully appreciated even if it seems obvious, because more than likely I am overlooking something simple, and I have asked around in so many forums with no reply.
Thanks in advance
