Hello,
I've seen so many people talking about "manual deinterlace", but I dont understand what it means. :confused:

You can get a lot of basic information about Interlacing and how to deal with it at this website:

I think "manual deinterlace" refers to manually deciding whether Deinterlacing/IVTC is needed or not.
And yes, carefully looking at the video with your own eyes is the only reliable way to decide that.

Not to be a smart arse, but the term manual is given to anything you have to manually do, Deinterlacing Can't be done automaticly as different video clips require different type's of deinterlacing methods, sometimes the only option is to encode a short portion of the clip multiple times with different deinterlacer's to find the one that works best for your clip.

Maybe sometime in the furture somone will write a smart filter that can auto deinterlace properly.
