I've read the thread here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=135795
but wondered if there was any software out that can do it with a GUI?
I've never used AVISynth so I've no idea what I'm doing with it and wondered if there was a kind of all in one software?
MKV2PS3 would be perfect if it could add borders to make the videos 1080 or 720 pixels high

set resize to 1920*1080 or 1280*720, blu-ray profile.

cheers but I've used it before and just tried again, it never loads a file, it always plays an error, this time it's "DirectShowSource: RenderFile, the filter graph manager won't talk to me (temp dir path\getinfo.avs, line 1)"
anything else out there that will do it?

Uninstall all bad codec packs you have. K-Lite , CCCP , Vista Codec Packs and so on , and so on!

I don't use codec packs, all I ever install is:
CoreAVC, ffdshow & MatroskaSplitter along with PowerDVD, I never need any other codecs

Did you use latest version v1.9.8? This sample is working fine!

yes mate, downloaded it about 3 hours ago, also downloaded ffdshow1993_20080609 (used 885_20070205 before that)
I never install codecs I don't need and would never install a codec pack
EDIT: just checked and when it loads up it says 1.9.7 in the title bar, but I only downloaded it at about 7:30PM (UK time, now 11:10PM) from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?l4ikoic8chj

anyone know of anything that encodes to mpeg2?
h.264 takes WAY too long, something like MKV2VOB which does it perfectly in a fraction of the time except for the resolution!
