MKV H.264 - How to edit commercials?

Hi, I have some video's and they are encoded with H.264 codec and are in the MKV container. They have commercials that I want to cut out, but I can't seem to open them in anything. Virtualdub gives me an error. I don't want any re-compression or anything like that. I would just like to edit out the commercials. Does anyone know a software that will work?

Who says they are illegal? I only used those terms to simplify. Basically my situation is that I have a video, and there is a scene I want to edit out. How can I go about doing this.
