Problem Convertering Uncompressed Captures

I own an Intensity Pro and using Component cables to capture HD video from Xbox 360.

I'm using iuVCR at the moment to capture uncompressed video (as some of the good compression codecs give me dropped frames and others are just not the quality I want).

I captured around a few 30 second clips to mess around with the Uncompressed video in various converters till I ran into a few problems.

I can't convert any of my uncompressed avi captures.

In VirtualDub, I do not see my video, I only hear it. I can see the video/hear in WMP. VLC is a no go on playing video. I tried to convert with VirtualDub, only gives audio. I tried MediaCoder but it won't allow me to convert their either. I think it has something to do with the HDYC codec? I'm pretty sure I'm not saying this correctly. I know some of this stuff but other stuff I am learning as I play with things and read. So bare with me. In Adobe Premiere CS3 when I add that video, I don't see any video and won't play at all and can't export.

What do I want to do? I just want to be able to take my Uncompressed AVI file (720p, 59.94fps, 8-bit 4:2:2) and then convert it to any type of format (Flash, Quicktime, etc). I'm running into problems doing this and with VirtualDub too.

I'm pretty sure it's not codec conflict, only one I really remember installing was just the Combined Community Codec Pack and I've updated that. I don't install other packs anyways.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure I left out some information so if you need to know something, let me know.

HDYC seems to be UYVY with rec.709 coefficients. You could simply use a fourcc changer as long as you keep that in mind when converting the video.

try with avisynth, use
directshowsource(clip.avi)

The homepage for iuVCR indicates that you can capture as either .AVI or .WMV.

In light of your difficulties, I'd suggest you try capturing as .WMV...

What do I tend to lose by doing this? Anything really noticeable? I did this and was able to convert my files easily. I can't see anything noticeable but I am curious as to any effects, if anything OR not noticeable by doing this.

Thanks for everyones replies so far too. I am going to try out the AviSynth, just created a script for it. Will test out that out and try out setarip_old's advice too and see what I get with that. Thanks! Anymore help or advice is welcome. Black-design emailed me back telling me I could use ProCoder so might check that out.
