Strange Ffdshow Issue.

When I play a h.246 file in MPC Home Cinema, the video looks fantastic, it rich in color and sharp.

When I play the same file in any other player the video looks dull, and little over bright.

I am using exactly the same set of filters(ffdshow+Haali) and EVR in the both the players. Why this difference in quality?

And why would this be a ffdshow issue?

It's probably a renderer issues. Maybe EVR vs EVR custom? You could perhaps solve it by changing the luma range in haali renderer.

Yep.

Definitely looks like a luma range issue. My guess is that this content is encoded with TV levels, and for some reason, BSPlayer is setting EVR to expect PC levels. Hence the gray blacks, and overall washed out look

Its a h.264 hd trailer. The colors look dull on all hd videos on bsplayer. I dont know exactly whether bsplayer or ffdshow is causing this. I am using evr in both with haali splitter. How do i correct it?

Like said above, this is not the fault of ffdshow. The solution would be to convert the luma range. There are several ways to do that. For example by using the 'levels' filter in ffdshow.
