I'm trying to rebuild a video and receive the following error:

DVD Rebuilder experienced an error adjusting DVD SCR [07:48:15] 00042 00006

The original video is not a commercial video. It was built with Adobe Encore. I haven't had any issues with footage of this type before. The actual footage is almost 8 hrs long and squeezed onto the DVD. I'm using DVD-RB v1.27.3 and CCE Basic v 2.70.01.16 (Latest for both). Destination drive has 10.8 GB free

Here is what is listed in the error log:

[09:42:15] 00036 00061 writing to VOB.
[16:59:09] 00042 00006 adjusting DVD SCR.
[06:15:55] 00042 00006 adjusting DVD SCR.
[07:48:15] 00042 00006 adjusting DVD SCR.

In looking things over, I had the avisynth filter active using autocrop. Would that have caused the error?

Thanks for any assistance!

The first error is the one that really counts -- and whether-or-not it is accurate, the operating system is returning an error to DVD-RB's write routine that the output disc is full.

That's a bit strange. I have my final output drive as an external drive that has over 500 GB of space available. My working directory is my C drive with 15 GB of space. Maybe I will reverse them and see what happens. Thank you very much for the help!

lantern

I tried it again changing the working drive and the destination. The work drive has over 500 GB of free space and the Destination has just over 16 GB of free space. I receive the same error.

SpazzHH
5th June 2008, 22:39
I would recommend removing the external drive from the work flow. There have been other reports of O.S. problems when using external drives. There just is no rhyme or reason to it.

jdobbs

Any chance you somehow created the output directories as read-only? That would do the same thing, and is easy to do accidentally in Vista.

lantern
6th June 2008, 11:57
I don't think so. I am going to try SpazzHH's advice and keep it off the external. I freed up about 21 GB and am going to try it again.

Thanks

Same error on rebuild and I eliminated the external drive completely.

I'm not sure what to say. DVD-RB is only reporting what the operating system is telling it -- and it is telling it that the disc is full. As with any disc operating system, the physical write isn't done by the software but by the O/S. DVD-RB is calling the O/S saying "write this to disc" and the O/S is saying "I can't. The disc is full."

lantern
6th June 2008, 17:59
I will try a different computer.
Thanks

jdobbs
6th June 2008, 19:03
I will say, though, that "disc full" can sometimes be the error that Windows defaults to when all else fails.

steptoe
7th June 2008, 11:22
You may get this error if you're hard drive has some errors on it as well, I don't mean physical errors just that the hard drive has gone a bit wrong and some pointers are out of sequence so the computer thinks it has less space than it actually has, regardless of what you know is left

Its reporting the right size, but the hard drive is telling it something else as the pointers are messed up

lantern
9th June 2008, 12:23
I'm running it on a different computer now. I changed from 1.27.3 (registered) to 0.98.2 (Freeware). The different computer didn't have DVD-RB and isn't connected to the internet. I didn't have time to work on it over the weekend.

I'll let you know what happens!
Thanks!

lantern
9th June 2008, 20:29
Ok, I tried it on a different computer. No external drives and using DVD-RB free version 0.98.2 and I received the following error:

Run-time error '6': overflow

It looks like it is in the same spot during the rebuild.

SpazzHH
9th June 2008, 22:44
Sounds like it could be a bad authoring job, have you tried running FixVTS on it before giving to Rebuilder?

jdobbs
9th June 2008, 23:58
Hmmm.... I should have read the first post more carefully. This was the first error:

DVD Rebuilder experienced an error adjusting DVD SCR [07:48:15] 00042 00006

Is this an NTSC disc you're attempting? If so, what is the title so I can pick up a copy.

Per "lantern":The original video is not a commercial video. It was built with Adobe Encore. I haven't had any issues with footage of this type before. The actual footage is almost 8 hrs long and squeezed onto the DVD.

Disc is NTSC and was authored using Adobe Encore 1.5. It is not a commercial disc, but I have used DVD-RB successfully for this type of job before. I realize that DVD-RB is not necessarily supported for non-commercial sources (as they can be incorrectly structured and authored), but I do appreciate any help/suggestions! I can always just go back and re-encode the original files and re-make the disc myself, I was just hoping that I could do it easier with DVD-RB. I haven't altered the final output from Encore in any way. I have just tried to feed it into DVD-RB, first as an mounted image file, then as the VIDEO_TS folder.

jdobbs
10th June 2008, 13:25
Are there any exceptionally long segments? It might be possible to create an overflow in a variable somewhere related to very large sizes. I notice it is in the routine that inserts/adjusts SCR values. Is there a chance that the SCR (system clock reference) is set to something odd in the authoring?

lantern
10th June 2008, 13:50
I only used the default settings for Encore for authoring the DVD. The video itself is almost 8 hrs long and I'm not sure how the segments were prepared by Encore. Is there anyway that I could get that info for you?

jdobbs
10th June 2008, 15:07
I think I may know what it might be. But I don't think there's a workaround, I'll have to fix it for the next release. Sorry.

lantern
10th June 2008, 16:35
No problem!

Thanks for all your help! If I can help with anything, please let me know!
