"Crucial" PowerDVD update

Received an email which said
CyberLink has just released an important Blu-ray 2.0 Profile (BD Live) update (62 MB) for all PowerDVD 8 Ultra users. This crucial update allows you to enjoy Blu-ray movie discs that offer Web-enabled features from downloadable trailers to chat and instant-messaging functions. BD Live movie titles released earlier in 2008 include these features such as War and Saw IV.

Well, that's "BD-Live" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-Ray#Player_profiles) for you.

There's an article in the current issue of c't that they want to use the internet connection to add product placement into (static parts of) movies this way... :rolleyes:

Yuck - so not only will they be using it to push additional bonus content (like, say, those extras that are currently included on the disc itself in non-volatile form) that can go away anytime and that's wasting your bandwidth and time, but the marketing departments will also have their grubby hands directly on your player...

O.K. !!! They can **** now and forever. Who do they think they are, wanting to steal my bandwidth and visual field, just because I may (not now, though) buy one of their disks.

After they removed HD-DVD support from PDVD8 they lost all of my business anyway. I'll Stick with my 7.3 OEM version for now untill I find a better player.
