Hi all,

I'm a long time Mac user who's just learning WinXP Pro.

My question is what decoder do I need to process 7.1 DTS?

I'm using Heartware's AudioConverter (http://audioconverter.heartware.dk/) via Boot Camp and it works like a charm except that AC calls the eac3to decoder to process dts -> ac3 which chokes on 7.1.

I'm told that commercial versions of Nero or Sonic (?) have what I need; can anyone offer a clue? I've found both their websites to be less than friendly to the uninitiated ;)

Is there a better way to do this?

I did a search but didn't find an answer.

7.1 DTS? Simple DTS is up to 6.1. DTS-HD (master audio or high res) found on Blu-ray and hd dvd can handle up to 7.1 ch. Unfortunately, neither nero or sonic can decode 7.1 channels. Nero (version 7 that eac3to uses) doesn't decode dts-hd tracks and sonic outputs 7.1 tracks as 5.1 only. Using sonic to get a 5.1 track is the best you can do right now.

Thanks for your response, can you direct me to the sonic decoder site?
