Hi,

I have been encoding movies for a while now, and been trying various programs and codecs to determine which works the best, produces the best quality, etc...

There is no longer any doubt. GordianKnot with Nandub out-performs any encoding software out there.

I recently encoded my "cream of the crop" of dvds (as far as difficulty encoding), which is Waterworld.

I know, I know, not the best movie in the world, but the fact remains this movie has the most moving water in any film since Jaws.

Moving water, especially unpredictable moving water, seems to give Divx codecs the screaming fits. Every encode I tried, with every codec (Low motion, fast motion, 4.02, 4.11, 4.12, one pass, two-pass, etc...) would result in chunky blocks and skips, horrible looking animation and very blurry pictures.

No longer. Gordian Knot has produced Waterworld in quality equal to (in my eyes) that of the DVD. Of course it's a two cd rip, but the movie is 2hrs, 20min long!

Would just like to thank all the developers of Gordianknot, and rest assured this is my encoding tool of the forseeable future.

On behalf of all my friends who now consider me a DiVX guru ( hell I just used GKnot just by reading half a page of Doom's guide ) I want to send major thanks to The WEF and co. for this great app, I have installed WinXP latelly and the numbers I get now are unbelievable, so I get best quality in no time , if that isn't great I wonder what is.

Alex,

What OS were you using before XP?

Are you saying you encode faster with XP (when you say the numbers are unbelievable)

TIA,
