How to connect a film if it's split in TWO DVDs?

I have Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier DVD and it's got both the theatrical version and the Redux. Only both films are split into TWO ACTS. You've got both Theatrical and Redux ACTS I on the first Disc, and SECOND Acts on the second disc. I'm tryin to just take the Theatrical version and connect the film into ONE, without the need to switch discs halfway down the film. Can this be done somehow?

I'm guessing it has something to do with getting all the VOB files from both Disc 1 and Disc 2 to be in one folder, named correctly..but that's just a guess.

Hi!

After ripping the desired "Acts" into two separate folders ("movies only"), you can use DVD2One to simply join (and select "Seamless") the desired two pieces. Of course, you won't have a menu, although you will retain all chapters, languages, and subtitles.

You can just as easily accomplish the same thing using DVD95CopyPro.

DVD2One is compressing, I dont want compression...

and in what way should I be ripping these files? IFO mode or FILE mode.

Use DVD Decrypter to rip in FILE mode.
If you don't want any compression in DVD2One, simply change the "User Defined 1" filesize from 4472 to 8950 or 9000...

Or if you wanted to do it seamlessly, either use VobEdit to change the VID of disk 2 (see here (http://web.archive.org/web/20060515074953/http://www.ifoedit.com/joinclip.html#joindbl)) or demux the relevant PGCs on side 1 and 2 with PgcDemux and remux with muxman. No need for payware at all.

I guess both "blutach" and I presumed that (as do most members of the Doom9 Forum) you had sufficient knowledge to understand the distinction beteween the "DVD Shrink method" and his/her reference to "Or if you wanted to do it seamlessly", and my reference to, "(and select "Seamless")"

"Seamlessly", in this circumstance, refers to joining the titles into ONE SEAMLESS TITLE, whereas, the instructions for "Compilation" at the DVD Shrink link provided by "blutach clearly indicates that you'll simply be placing mutliple titles on one disc...

It will result in 2 separate titles, but this should not be an issue. They will play one after the other with a pause of about 2 seconds. But since it is Act 2 anyway, this is probably not such a bad thing, since in such DVDs, there is most likely a natural break in the video. Try it out and see.

I'm only a noob asking questionsI have done what you want to do a couple of times, using DVD Shrink to make two VIDEO_TS (after selecting only the video/audio/subtitle tracks you want) and then "stitching" them together, using free tools VobEdit and IfoEdit, selecting a proper layer break with PgcEdit, then burning with ImgBurn. Did this with at least Titanic SE and Pearl Harbor.

But I'll be darned if I can find the "stitch" method/guide for doing this. I think it was accessed via the author's (Derrow) site and it's gone. Maybe if you look-up some guides for Vobedit and Ifoedit you can find how to do this. Or someone here may point you, as I don't seem to be able to find it now.

Use the DVD Shrink plugin of PgcEdit to get over this "issue" (which makes it completely into a non-issue). Here are your options:
