I think this question has been answered before, although I just wanted to clarify. I’m encoding a new dvd rip (American Pie 2) with gknot, my question is in reference to the Inverse Telecine option. While using DVD2AVI, I didn’t have to use force film, so now I’m at the point in Gknot where I can choose the Inverse Telecine option. Though, I recall reading that there was a bug related to this option that needed to be remedied in next version of Gknot.

So should I go back to DVD2AVI and just use the force film option, so I won’t have to utilize the Inverse Telecine option?
My question is, would it be okay to use force film even though it don’t need to be ( cuz the Framerate" is 29.970 (NTSC)) but the percentage is lower then 95%, actually the percentage doesn’t even show.

From my experience on Region 1 movies I can tell you that in cases where DVD2AVI gives a FILM without a percentage that must mean it's a 100% film movie, there have even been cases where the percentage raised from 92 up to 99 progresively or cases where Film started without a percentage and then turned to 95, in all these cases I have used Forced Film and it worked like a beauty. By the way GORDIAN KNOT RULEZ IN ALL CASES , I just wanted to say that once more, I love this prog.

yeah thanks, I just re-read the dvd2avi guide and in cases where there are no percentages, it says to force film.

I also wanted to clarify if there is a bug with the current Telecine option??

Yeah, there's a bug.

I wish they'd get that fix out soon. Force Film doesn't work worth anything on most anime. And IVTC.dll works wonderfully now on everything I have.

the bug is connected to the "IVTC in avs -> correct frame count" -checkbox. it's only needed to get exact frame overhead calculations for credits.

everything should work fine if you don't check that box.

if you are encoding credits separately filesize might be 1-2 mb off...
if you are using divx4 you shouldn't bother at all.

wef.
