I'm trying (!!!) to set up a Blue Ray Viewing System and it seems that it is not possible? I got the Blue Ray Drive, the Duo Core Processor, the needed RAM, a Video card by ATI saying High Definition, the HDMI cable going from ATI HD3450 to Sony TV 40'
The Blue Ray Drive is a Sony BDU-X10. All of these say "Watch Blue Ray Movies on your PC!) It works on the PC Desktop Screen, but NOT on the TV hooked up to the same card!
What do I do wrong?
Is it the HDCP controversy that stops me from displaying onto the big screen?
Could I use a different card that would allow me to do it?
At this time, I bought the hardware from a place that will take it back if not satisfied, and I feel like doing so!!! Is there a solution???

Download the free cyberlink HD advisor. It will analyse your setup and tell what's wrong.
I'd suspect HDCP given the fact it works on the PC
If so, hook the TV up through VGA, which is nearly as good.

exroosje is exactly right; follow those instructions and you'll be fine.
I get so annoyed when i heard people knock VGA. Believe it or not, with certain setups VGA can display up to 2560 x 1600; that's PLENTY of bandwidth for any video currently out there :P

Sure, but unless you have really mean DACs and cables, it will be fuzzy as shite. The difference is plainly visible on a 1920x1200 pixel 24" LCD, and a "standard" VGA cable versus any old DVI cable. The DVI will be noticeably cleaner. Most video cards skimp on their analog section these days :( It makes me a sad panda...
Component is another story, especially with decent cables.
Now, regarding this case - can you display the Windows desktop on your TV?

Sounds like HDCP is definitely getting in the way.
Buy SlySoft AnyDVD HD. It will bypass this silly nonsense on the fly :)

Reply to QuadcoreHD: I did download the Cyberlink Advisor. Thank you. It told me that the TV was HDCP and that the video card Diamond ATI 3450 HD, was not a Blue Ray
ready Video Card! Can you suggesta Card that will be Pure HD. Would Nvidia 8800 (?) be a card that would do the trick? Thanks
Another Question QuadCoreHD: I did follow your suggested thread, and got AnyDVD HD. It did not solve the problem, as Blue_Misfit suggested! I did not play PowerDVD, downloaded the HD to Harddrive, followed the given plan, but did not get the ISO to play(?) and the mts (the biggest one) did not play either in Cyberlink (?)
Any suggestions? Thanks

Well, if your TV is HDCP compliant, then AnyDVD would not be necessary in either eacse.
If the tv is NOT HDCP compliant, then just having AnyDVD installed will bypass HDCP on the fly.
I think the 3450 should have BluRay compatible H.264 / VC1 acceleration. The Cyberlink Advisor might be out of date.
What happens when you try to play a BluRay disc? Do you get a black screen?
What happens with a computer monitor connected through VGA?

Is this your video card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103055&Tpk=Diamond%2bATI%2b3450%2bHD)? I've got a Viseontek 3450 card and it works great and is definitely HDCP ready, etc... I play Blu-rays, HD-DVDs, etc at full resolution on my TV over HDMI, it's a Toshiba 42" 1920x1080, and the acceleration works on all the Disks I've played, it works with or without Anydvd, I'm using PowerDVD 7.x, the one that came with my LG Combo blu-ray/HDDVD drive. Your card should work, it is HDCP capable, it should work well?

I have resolved the issue by doing two things, 1) I made the TV the main screen. It did display the movie. 2) Second, I upgraded the video card to ATI Diamond 3870 (a screamer with its DDR4 memory!) Thank you for all your help!
