MainConcept and Premiere Pro CS3...

Hi!

I seem to have a strange problem with the MainConcept MPEG codec in Premiere Pro CS3...

I know that PPCS3 has the codec built-in and so naturally it's used when I'm editing the material. I have a source .m2v that plays in VLC perfectly without a problem... but when it comes to editing the file in PPCS3 some parts of it are very pixelated, both in the preview window and also in the finish .mpg product. The source, as said, is fine. I've noticed it seems to be especially evident where there's a lot of screen movement.

Is there any configuration in PPCS3 for the codec that I can tweak with, as some of the artifacts and glitches are just too obvious to hide.

Well I've tried all the outputs and stuff in Adobe's built-in exporter but they all yield the same result... plus as this is also evident when I'm editing I'm assuming it's to do with the actual way it's rendering... I've completely exhausted all options... =(

Hmmm... well I have a .m2v that plays flawlessly in VLC... there's no pixelated regions or anything playing it back. When I'm editing it in Premiere, though, some of the scenes that have a lot of movement get pixelated and distorted... this distortion etc. that shows on the Premiere preview window is exactly what is exported no matter what codecs or options I use. The original footage is 23.97 and I use this under Premiere too.

Having to insert tone .m2v, I suppose that you are going to export it with ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER, then you choose your codec Mainconcept to encode (standard Mpeg2 or Mpeg2 Bluray) by selecting wished profile (with the sound PCM - DD 5.1 / or not).
And end by the encoding.

What is the size of your movie?
What type of MPEG that you wish?

Well the size of the move seems irrelevant... I've done it with only the pixelated footage and done it with something running about 20 minutes and get the same thing no matter how I encode it. I've tried using other encoders and get the same thing so it's pointing me towards a problem with the codec when it's editing the footage I think...
