How to do sound? no sound? help

Ok, my first try at Fair use looks to be successfull. I have excellent video. However, no sound. It said at the end I just need to mux in the sound? what does that mean and how to I do that? how will the sound match up with the video?

FairUse only does video for now so you need a program to convert the ac3 file fairuse makes into an mp3. i've had the best luck with BeSweet. After you get that, you should get the GUI for it because it's all command line and confusing without it. After the mp3 track is created you can use nandub to sync the audio file and the video file together as one. Good luck.

is there one besides the FAQ's and guide that come with the Fair Use download? I looked through that but it doesn't tell me anything but that I need to add sound later.

this is what I do for sound:
1. use a program called azid, I then use the following settings for it c:\azid\azid.exe -cnormal -L -3db g:\current\current.ac3 g:\current\current.wav (I rename my ac3 file to current.ac3, and put in a folder called current, located on my g:\ drive)

2. I then use normalize with the following settings,
c:\normalize\normalize.exe -m 98 g:\current\current.wav

3. I then use a program called lame (version 3.91) and use the following switch settings

1 cd
c:\lame\lame.exe -h --nspsytune --lowpass 19.5 --resample 48 --abr 96 g:\current\current.wav g:\current\current.mp3

2 cds
c:\lame\lame.exe --alt-preset g:\current\current.wav g:\current\current.mp3

4. I then use nandub to merge the video and the audio, open avi file from the fairuse video extraction, then under video select direct stream, then under audio select vbr and select your mp3, then under file> select save avi as "AND RENAME IT TO SOMETHING ELSE"

just download these 4 software apps, and copy and paste my switches to the dos prompt. Trust me it is easy, just get your feet wet and don't look back. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you don't like this, try out the G-Knot ripping kit. TheWEFF, has made a beautiful app with G-Knot.

Yes, I seem to be understanding that it is hard until you figure out what your doing.

Ok, so it looks like I figured out how to get beSweet to work with it's GUI.

It will make an .MP3 file from the .AC3 file.

How to I then add it to the .AVI file?

Dude? haven't heard that one for a while.....

I said I was new to this site. I also asked if there were other guides then what comes with some of these programs. Too many have nothing or do not state it plainly enough.

I don't have the time to sit and read for hours trying to figure out what someone might know right away.

Hey, it works :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have a done my first with season 1 episode 1 of the sopranos.

I used Fair Use first....

Then on the suggestion and lots of help from annunaki10 I used
BeSweet for audio then nandub to put them together. The sound is a little distorted, the video is better then perfect. but for the first time out, not bad. I just have to play with audio settings and start rolling.

Jeffg30, I made a program called Madrona that automates all the audio processing steps for Fair Use. It can be downloaded from Doom9's website - look for it on the download page. It comes with all required support utilities.

The other utilities you were recommended to use will also work fine. However, I dislike all the manual steps involved.

I'll give it a try next.
I am doing my 3rd one now. I deleted the first one and made a new one about 340mb however, in the end it came to only about 200 mb. Must be something in the compression. anyway looks and this time sounds great.

I also want to try vidomi. I heard from someone from Germany that is a good one, but you have to use smartripper first. I am just looking for an easy way to do it. If your program makes it easier, then that is what I will use. Once I settle on the one I like best, I do pick up the registered copy if there is one. I give a lot of credit to all you guys that make these kind of programs. I have a programming degree but don't have the time (3 kids 6, 3, 2) to do stuff like that.
