doing this for the wife.

so far using recode to convert my dvds to mp4, using auto settings. I do disable resize.

so far seems to be correct for the movies. the all look and play fine.

However I began recoding the gilmore girls, and the playback looks jerky at times at times every thing looks fine, other times it looks like frames are missing. its still smooth play back, but looks more animated then video like.

what setting do I need to change to get smooth playback?

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA you use Recode!
I mean, we need more information to know your problem, a small sample would be nice.

And wait... dvd to mp3?

mp4, using nero digital (AVC) 2 pass encoding

And you, I use recode... for the most part works for me right out of the box.

i'll see if i can get a sample

There is difference between TV and FILM source i guess, if Recode doesn't auto select it, maybe you have to.

(I never used Recode ever)

Are you using Recode 2 or 3?

recode 3

currently cant get a good sample, trying to find a good way to just trim a chunk, but nero wants to recode the chunk, which screws things up.

What is your source? Is it the DVD? A Region 1 version or another? It looks "weird".

dvd region 1. I think i fixed it. recode set it to 23.xx fps, if I change it to 29.97 it looks 'norma'
