Just discovered this (http://www.aviz.fr/dimp/) today...it's quite fun and impressive. :)


DimP is a video player that allows to browse video clips by directly manipulating their content.

the authors present their method for browsing video by directly dragging content by “1) automatically extracting motion data from videos; and 2) a new technique called relative flow dragging that lets users control video playback by moving objects of interest along their visual trajectory.”

this player is not recommended for current playbacks imo. It's just for fun...

Bah. While it sort of "works", the technology (or at least the implementation of it) still needs to be worked on. Slow as a snail, and when dragging the object, the whole screen pixelizes with aliasing galore.

Very cool find. Great idea for surveillance video and also for just easily finding a spot where something will be/was at in the video frame.
