I use Windows XP....if that matters. I recently bought a DVD recorder (Memorex MRX-500N) and got it running. Bought it really only to make data DVDs to save room on my hard drive. Works great and the DVDs seem to hold a lot of files. Running Nero software for it, by the way.

TODAY my daughter took out my Guitar Hero 3 game for my Playstation 2 to put in her game. I noticed when I was putting it back in later that there were A LOT of scratches on it from being removed and inserted so much. Put it in and it froze while loading. The 2nd time trying it, it worked.

My question is, is there a way to use my DVD burner to create a back-up disc for my game before it has one scratch too many? I tried to simply 'copy' it but when I put it in the Playstation it says 'insert a Playstation format disc'. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Game was expensive (to me at least) and if I can back it up I'll use the back-up and keep the original in the case so I'll always have it. Tried to search but couldn't find anything in past forum discussions. Am I breaking rules here?

Technically, I think you are. This is primarily a DVD backup forum. You'd be far better off using Google and/or other dedicated forums out there.

So THIS too is breaking rules? What's the difference in backing up a movie on a DVD burner and backing up a game on a DVD burner?.................different media sure.........but I was told this was an advanced site (in a recent thread) and that the knowledge shared here is suppose to be top-notch. Hoped someone here might be able to help me with my back-up-related problem. Where else should I go for someone educated in THIS type of back-up?

(Just went through ALL the rules. Rule 15 says to keep it related to DVD back-up. I AM backing up (or at least trying to) on a DVD.........so IT MUST BE a DVD backup-related inquiry. I love the crap outta rule 13. At least I feel American here. Can anyone help with a game back-up here though, or should I look elsewhere?
