Audio Sync Problem

I've been experiencing problems with my audio in x264 rips of blu ray and hd dvd files slipping out of sync with the video.

It usually happens about an hour into the film (prior to this it is fine), and then it is only just out but it's enough for it to be really annoying.

I have tried using Zoom Player, Media Player Classic and lately KMPlayer.

I have tried them all with Core AVC Professional and ffdshow for the video and with AC3 filter for the audio.

I am running a Q6600, with 4GB of ram. The video is being run from the second DVI out on my 8800GTX to my HDTV (using its HDMI input) in the lounge. The audio is coming from the headphone jack in my PC and then into my stereo amp and out of my two speakers (although the problem still occurred when I ran the lead into the TV itself rather than the amp).

Does anyone have any ideas as why this is happening and whether there is anything I can do about it?

Southstorm thank you for pointing me in this direction.

If I understand it correctly it is an issue with the actual ripping process in the first place? It is nothing to do with the player I am using.

So if I am getting the rips from somewhere else (and not ripping them myself) there is nothing I can do about it. It is up to the original ripper to ensure the audio matches.

Is this right?

Yes, it's very possible that it's a ripping error and that if you rip your own discs you'll be just fine. Other possibilities than that exist, but we can't help you anymore because this is in rule 6 territory. Closed.
