I followed a guide to convert vcd to dvd, however when I complete the conversion process the audio get's dropped in the VOB file - the input files work fine by themselves.
The tool I'm using to author is Ifoedit -
- pls help.

Hi!
Did you, as you must, convert the audio from 44,100Hz to 48,000Hz?

Yes, I converted the audio using BeSweet after demuxing with TMPGEnc/MPEG tools.
I also checked the audio freq. with GSpot [stat = MPEG-1 Layer 3 128kbps 48000 Hz] before putting it thru IfoEdit.

Thank you for replying -
Are you suggesting that I convert the original audio (.mp2) file to mp3 format before authoring?
I'm wondering if I'm using "ifoedit" incorrectly or simply doesn't do what I need -

I also checked the audio freq. with GSpot [stat = MPEG-1 Layer 3 128kbps 48000 Hz]Is this a typo, or did you mistakenly convert the original 44,100Hz.MP2 audio to 48,000Hz .MP3 , instead of .MP2 at 48,000Hz?

...the instructions (setup) for BeSweet were very detailed and clear - but resulted in an MP3 file which didn't work when I authored the files. I noticed a profile for MP2 to DVD in the GUI. I used that instead of the manual setup and it worked! I double checked it in Gspot - and confirmed [MPEG-1 Layer 2 192 kbps 48000 Hz].
thanx setarip_old for your input - this stuff is addicting ;)

The dvd worked fine on my PC but when I attempted to play on my dvd player - the frames were out of sync (not sure how to describe it accurately but they scrolled up/down and not able to view a steady picture).
Any ideas - my guess is the setup when authoring - is there a reference for "all" the required/appropriate settings for a dvd somewhere regardless of tool being used?
thanx again to all of you who step up to help out -

Sounds like you may be trying to play a PAL DVD on an NTSC standalone player/TV, or vice-versa...

...you're good!
So I looked up PAL/NTSC and briefly read about their differences. I'll have to see if the BeSweet or any of the tools I have can convert PAL -> NTSC. (is there a tool to confirm what format the dvd is?)
