View Full Version : VD doesn't take keyboard input anymore?

Working on a project in VD 1.7.8, doing lots of seeking forward/backward with cursor keys, all fine. Then I open a 2nd VD. Open some movie in there, do some stuff, and close it again.

Now, the first VD window suddently doesn't take my keyboard anymore. I can still click on the seek bar with the mouse, but space to start/stop or cursor left/right to go through frames doesn't do anything anymore!
Note that the program still runs normally, and responds to menu items as usual: when I press Alt+G it opens the Go menu, and when I click 'Next Frame' it does go to the next frame. But clicking right doesn't do anything.

Any way of restoring this, or will I have to start all over again? :(

You'd get better help for VirtualDub at the VirtualDub forum:

Hi!

Did any programs other than VirtualDub accept keyboard input after this? If not, perhaps your keyboard locked up as the result of a loosened connection or a miniscule power surge.

Try COLD rebooting (NOT "Restart"). After getting into Windows, "NumLock" should be the only keyboard light remaining on...

It's absolutely not a hardware problem or windows issue. The keyboard still worked fine in all other programs. Note that also regular keyboard shortcuts for menus and such worked in VirtualDub (such as alt+G = open Go menu, etc). It's only that certain shortcuts were not functioning anymore (yet the same keys, such as left/right, work fine when browsing through the menu, so the keys itself and their messaging through Windows are fine).
