Progressive PAL to NTSC w/o slowdown?

Hello,

I have a PAL dvd that I imported, but I want to make a NTSC copy for playing in NTSC players (preferably keeping the menus, but this wouldn't be a big deal).

It is 25 fps, and I want to get it to 24 fps, then Telecine it to 29.97, as is common for most DVDs.

I was thinking about using mvtools (with DVD rebuilder maybe?) in order to do this, but I'm still a little unclear on what would be the way to do this without losing much smoothness.

Like I said in the title, I really don't want to just slow down the video, as I think it was filmed at 25 fps, since it was filmed in Turkey.

resize it to NTSC proportions: most likely 720x480
keep it at 25fps
do a telecine to 29.97fps with DGPulldown.

Mind=blown.Something else to try:

1. Demux your DVD
2. Use DGPulldown on the m2v to convert from 25fps to 29.97
3. Re-mux (author to VIDEO_TS) using IfoEdit, with original audio

It might work for you, despite that you have a non-standard DVD here (720x576) which is why you need IfoEdit to remux i.e. Muxman will complain. But it works for me.

This doesn't retain menus, nor do chapter marks work w/o repairs, but if it plays for you, it's not been re-encoded at all, nor cropped...

i am not very fimiliar with Videos in the Menu.

pgcdemux or dgindex will help you to extract the videos
