In MPEG Video Wizard, after I finish cutting scenes out of an MPEG-1 file, the user guide says to add the remaining scenes to the timeline and right click "Trim" to save the file. Then you get a save dialog box that gives you zero options as to how to save it.
But I see that I can also save it by exporting it, and then I have the "automatic" option to ensure that minimal re-encoding is done, and also have access to information about how much of the new file is stream copy and how much is re-encoded.
My question is, if I just select the "Trim" command to save it, am I still getting minimal re-encoding? I want to minimize re-encoding. Why not just select "export"? Is there any difference in the result?
I'm just editing scenes out of MPEG-1 files and saving as MPEG-1. Sorry to post in an MPEG-2 subforum, but none of the subforums seemed to neatly fit this question.
