It wasn't designed to run on a Mac -- I don't think I've heard any reports of anyone doing so. Frankly I'm not even sure how it would be done -- and emulator?

I read somewhere on this forum that one Linux user made it work with wine (www.winehq.com).

I'm also a donator and would like to make DVDRebuilder works on my Linux Mint machine. (In fact, all my computer are running Linux actually except one laptop that has a dual boot (XP+Ubuntu). I only keep this WinXP for DVDRebuilder)

I do not plan to Re install any Windows

From the tests I made in the past, the (only ?) problem was about the anti piracy protection included by jdobbs to protect its software... Unfortunately

FYI : DVDShrink is working well. DVDDecrypter and RipIt4Me was working well also (Imgburn also)

any version from v1.26.6 and earlier will work perfectly in wine, v1.27.x and greater not possible (even w/ changes to 1.27.2)

I made that guide quite a while ago, good to know it will work with crossover on the MAC osx. I still have not been able to get anything later than version 1.26.6 running on Wine due to the debugger detected error message.

When i get the time and get Wine 1.0 installed i will do some more testing. If it will still not work i plan on posting a bug report over at WineHQ.

I'll see if I can do something about that. I have the "WINE compatible" switch set on the debugger check. Unfortunately I don't have WINE running so I can't really test it.

I've recently been testing Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy and setup Wine-1.0 today to try 1.27.2 Pro and I got the "Debugger Detected [304]" message. :(

I've modified v1.28 to make it (what I believe to be) more tolerant -- but I have no way of testing it.

Just installed the latest Wine 1.0 for Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 and the Debugger error still comes up with any Rebuilder version 1.26.6 which still works perfectly.

I am going to run everything through at the terminal on set-up and submit a bug report at WineHQ and see if they can help.

@jdobbs have you ever tried running Linux on a virtual machine, I believe that is how Lightning UK does his testing on ImgBurn. He was very help full in getting the bugs in Imgburn and Wine worked out.

I also realize you need to protect your work as there are plenty of hackers out there trying to crack your program and post it on the internet, and I would be willing to pay extra for a version of DVD Rebuilder that will run on Linux. :thanks:

Thanks again for a great program and the hard work......

I agree, I would be willing to pay a little more for this functionality. Until I started playing Gears of War, DVDRebuilder was the only reason I haven't switched to linux yet!

Good idea. VMWare Server is freeware and works great on WinXP with just about any linux distro (most of which are free to download).

cheers

@JDobbs:
May I add VirtualBox as VM solution:
http://www.virtualbox.org/
The company was recently bought by Sun. The solution is free and runs any Linux version I´ve tested so far. Just in case you like to do some experiments with DVD-RB and wine.

The latest free version of DVD-RB runs fine under Wine 1.0 and Ubuntu.

No issues whatsoever with 1.28.2, much appreciated, hopefully more linux users will adopt.
