View Full Version : Any program that can extract a fragment clip from DVD video?

Does anyone know a program that can load a DVD and let us preview it, then let us choose which part to cut and extact that part (preferable in mv2)? PgcDemux is good, but we can only extract from cells, not from the "part" choosen by the owner.

I'm asking this because I want to make a videoclip from a movie and by using pgcdemux, it will take me too much space from HD for extracting cells (sometime, I only need 10 secs in a cell and extracting the whole cell cost space)...

DVD Shrink can do that! Choose reauthor, double click a title to add it and then right-click it and choose 'Set start/end frame'.

If you decide encoding to MPEG-4 you can also cut with StaxRip:

With DVD Shrink, each time you open a DVD, it keep analysing... "It waste time".

Any program that open a DVD (not HD-DVD) and let us extract a content directly without re-encoding?

You could use a player to find out the chapter and then rip only the chapter with DVD Decrypter, cutting directly from DVD with freeware frame accurate is probably not possible. I still wonder what's the purpose of all this.

Probably, DGIndex will be able to do that. Select start and end points point using the slider, then click file -> save project and demux video.

Directly from DVD only with AnyDVD which isn't free.

DGIndex will be able to do that.
This program is great, but when I demux, it also extract the .d2v and the audio, so I need to delete them for each extracted parts... But the program I'm looking is similar to this one! Only extracting the .mv2 is enough (save space and without any hassle).

Directly from DVD only with AnyDVD which isn't free.
I think free program can handle this job, so no need to waste fund to purchase that software just to extract video part from dvd, but thanks for the suggestion.

Hm... This program is great, but it extracts in .vob (audio inlcuded). Only if it extract in .m2v just like pgcdemux will be great.

The d2v files by themselves would hardly take any space. There are also other VOB/M2V editors, but not suited for your specific purpose - edit a VOB and save as m2v.

Or mpg2cut2 which is an updated version.Both of these wouldn't do what the OP wants - take in a VOB and extract only the video part, sans audio, as an m2v. ChopperXP for sure won't do that, and if there's a way to disable the audio in Mpg2cut2, I haven't found it yet.

It's not free, but I use VideoReDo to open a DVD directly, select the PGC that I want, frame-accurate edit it, then output as elementary streams (if that's what you want).

Very useful & flexble, but it cost $50 bucks last time I looked.
