mpeg 2 to edit

Hi
I captured from my analog camera by video capture card(ASUS Silicon WDM Video Capture) and I got a MPEG 2 file.
I can edit it by Premiere Pro 7.0 because when I cut it and put it on Timeline I loose the sound.
I tried many ways to rip or demux but the result is very large files (avi) or video and audio files separatly which is very difficult to edit them in Premiere.
Please anybody can help me !

I'll try this programs for editing!
my problem is that mpeg-2 is not a file you can edit in Premire. I must decompress it or rip it into format that premire permits editting.
What I did up today is not useful because I got huge files(avi) or seconds of avi files to join ,that it is not real to do.
May be the editors you sent to will be OK.

Premiere can handle MPEG-2, but as you say - you loose the audio.

Decode the audio to uncompressed WAV.

What format is the audio in the MPG? Dolby Digital (AC3)? MPEG-1 Layer 2 (MP2)?

1. the problem with mpeg2 shniters of any sort is of course they can't really compare to editing in premiere, so here is what i do often;

a. convert those mpeg2 files to huff (cs3 has some huge problems with mpeg2)
b. convert those huffs to DV as well
c. edit the DV version (premiere just loves DV)
d. just before exporting relink DV to huffs (then you can frameserv to anything)
e. export or frameserv to anything
f. backup just the project (nuke DV and huff material, you can always redo those from mpegs)

you still loose a generation, but you can definitely edit better.

3. sony vegas should have better native mpeg2 import support (if you can work with that funny gui)
