I'm trying to rip a DVD of mine to my iPod. I rip using RipIt4Me. I choose rip by cell when I get to the DVDDecrypter stage. I then take the cells I want and run them through DGIndex. The resulting audio streams (on this particular dvd) have negative audio delays. I then try to encode using x264 and Sharktooth's PD-iPod profile.
The video stream I get plays in Quicktime, but when I mux it with the negatively delayed audio, only the audio plays. The video stays stuck to the first frame. Also, Quicktime misinterprets the length of the video.
If I move the delay to 0, it works just fine, albeit with what I assume is unsynchronized audio. The negative delay is around -164ms (though it varies by episode). I can't really perceive this at the moment, but that doesn't mean I want to live with it. The video is claymation, so it's not the easiest to tell if it's slightly out of sync.
What can I do to fix this? Do I have to cut the first 164ms of the audio off? VLC reads and plays everything just fine. Are negative delays common? Or have I screwed up somewhere?
Thanks!
