I updated fine, but when I try to encode a ac3 to mp3 using mp3-128ABR I keep getting errors. I set it to worker 1.
I never got errors when I used the same sw in vista premium, but in xp I can't get it to go.
I tried manually inslatlling lame into tools in the megui folder and it doesn't work.
I tried older versions.
I tried everything I could.
Please help.
I'm stuck.
:thanks:
:stupid:

I started this thread because the other one about lame was only about updating.
This is a different problem.

Same problem same version here.
Only differerence is I'm trying to get a 160bkps ABR MP3.
It correctly runs the pre-processing, but at the moment of actually launching lame there's a generic "error" without any explicit error message.
The path to the lame executable is correct.
EDIT: just tried VBR and CBR modes: same result.
have u tried ticking/unticking 'force decoding via directshow'?

I'm at work right now, but I'm pretty sure it was ticked ... I'll try unticking it tonight and report later :)

Yeah, that doesn't work either in xp mce.
One interesting note is in xp mce it looks for lame.exe in the megui folder, not the megui\tools folder.
^ stick one in there and see what happens?

~bt~,
I just tried putting lame.exe here: megui\lame.exe, megui\tools\lame\lame.exe, megui\tools\lame.exe
I tried updating then tried again. No go.
I remember it working fine in vista premium though.
So maybe xp sp3 messed something up?

I don't see framework.

I updated to framework 3.5, no updates available once installed.
I then tried megui, no go.
I then updated ffdshow. clsid 1960.
Still no go.
This is in xp mce.
The framework showed it was only using the same one as in the error log in the first post.
my last attempt to help..
pls change the update server to development and update megui.
all the best!

How do I change the update server?
In MeGUI:
Options -> Settings -> Extra config -> Configure servers -> choose 'Development' from drop-down menu

I changed it to Development.
It races through the update.Nothing is unzipped, and none of the updaes are successful. They all have problems.
I tried both servers using Development.
One funny thing.
Before, Using Vista Premium. I had to manually install lame.exe.
Where I unstalled it manually is in megui\tools\lame\lame.exe
But today I try out the same thing and I get a error.
It wants lame.exe in megui\lame.exe
And when I put lame.exe there I can encode successfully.
:thanks:
^ which was what i asked you to do here..http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1139974&postcount=7
also, you can change the location of lame.exe by configuring program paths iirc..

When I tried that same thing in XP MCE it didn't work.
Up till today all the suggestions were tried in xp mce.
Only today I tried out vista premium again.
when you told me to put lame.exe in megui\lame.exe I did, but in xp mce it didn't work.
But if I remove lame.exe and try it in megui\tools I get a error telling me to put lame.exe in megui\lame.exe.
This is in xp mce.
And I tried configuring program paths.
last last attempt :p
uninstall, reinstall fresh copy from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui

Well, I put lame.exe in the megui\tools\lame\lame.exe
then I opened program paths, and it already pointed too this location.
So I pressed save.
Then opened a ac3 and it started encoding! :)
Heh heh
This is in XP MCE
^ kewl! we got there finally :D
