Quicktime problem

Where can I download a codec that will allow me to convert mov to avi with Winavi?

I've tried installing Quicktime Player; but Winavi still can't see the damn codec!!
Very irritating, as there seem to be hundreds of QT codecs, and I have no idea which one to install.

N.B. QT is not showing up under the Control Panel list of video codecs, even though I can play mov files in WMP, and I have Alternative QTLite installed.

Winavi is a piece of crap. Use Avidemux.

I've found it quite good up until now, and would prefer to stick with it. Seems to be much faster than other transcoders I've tried.

There must be some way to fix this codec problem!!

I haven't tried MPEGMediator yet.
What I wanted was to take frame grabs from analogue PAL camcorder footage, without any field-combing artefacts or loss of 576-line resolution.

So I needed to be sure that no auto-deinterlacing had been applied when I captured it. (I first recorded it to DVD, then ingested it with 321 Soft DVD Ripper.)

I also need a good deinterlacing filter that will cope with motion, and some software that will give 576p still frames in pause.

Would be very grateful for any advice.
