View Full Version : How do you join ripped cells into a single video?

I am trying to archive my collection of DVDs to mp4s so I can play them on my iPod and and PS3. I make a different version for each because the iPod version can be compressed much further.

Right now, I just rip the files off the DVDs using RipIt4Me and then use megui to manually cut and portion out the files. Doing this is time consuming and tedius, but if the files are broken by cellID, its much easier, as I can just eliminate the cells I don't want and then encode the rest. One problem, I don't know how to rejoin them. The D2V creator doesn't allow you to select multiple files, as it normally just automatically continues to the next one. It runs to the end of the vobcell and stops.

The question is this:
How do you put them back together, and when should I join them? After reencoding? Before? I'm compressing them using x264 and NDaac. The files require deinterlacing and detelecining. Do I do something really simple like encoding them and then zipping them together back to back using 0 compression and then change the extension when I'm done? Is there a trick to use? Is there something I do when muxing them?

I'm sorry if this is a repeat question. I went hunting for an answer and couldn't find anything.

Also, is there a way to split them by cell id after they're already on your hard drive? Or do I have to re-rip them with RI4M and DVDDecrypter?

Thanks in advance!

pull of the cells into dgindex, and save as d2v

the d2v creater (which is actually dgindex) doesnt automatically pull all of the files in at once because they are not named vts_01_11.vob, vts_01_12.vob... etc

Thanks! :)
Too bad I have to go back and re-rip them all now, though. :(
