Is this the most horrible pile of code since Windows ME or what. I've always been annoyed with the amount of information they want for even RP8, but they've brought intruciveness to a whole new level. I've never really liked the .rm format to begin with (being on a dialup modem "streaming" video on any real file is a different picture every ten seconds and some tin can-like audio), but there's not much I can do since there's always some site out there that uses it exclusively. BTW great idea realnetworks on your new "mp3" service... $9.95 a month for 100 files that can only be accessed through your horrible player and not able to be transported in any way to any other device.

So now, enough of my ranting, here's my question....

Is there any other software that can handle this format? There's always some website that uses this format out there that i have to have it installed. I would love to have this waste of space off of my computer for good. Also, are there any plugins to existing good software like wmp 6.4 or the such.

I wanted to add RM playback into PowerDivX, but the Real SDK Developper license is clear:

The SDK further may not be used in any way to create software that serves, downloads, delivers, or distributes audio, video, or other media files across the Internet or any computer network.

- encodes, serves, or plays a file format competitive to any RN file format, as determined by RN in its sole discretion;
- Transcodes RN media files into any other file format or is used as part of a system that Transcodes RN media files into any other file format;
- contains any third party product or any Licensee product that is competitive with an RN product;
- markets or sells competitive products to RN product end users;
- etc
