View Full Version : Site mirrors not working?

I check Doom9's main page almost every day, most of the time more often. So far, I use http://www.doom9.org. That may change to a specific server number in future, but the kind soul I am, I'd like to report downtime on the servers the domain name redirects to.
Server 1: fine, up to date, very responsive.
Server 2: "The requested URL /right.html was not found on this server." Was getting that with the main redirect domain, then tried other servers, but it seems to have sussed that one now.
Server 3: Times out trying to connect with FF2. IE7 tries to connect, then has a go via MSN Search. I have no idea what the problem is, having not versed myself to servers and the like in a LONG time!
Server 4: fine, up to date, very responsive.
Server 5: as 1 and 4, fine, up to date, and very very responsive (though that might be due to local cache).
Server 6: As #3, times out trying to connect.
So 3 out of 6 server mirrors work with no problems, one seems to be missing the main page, probably during synchronisation, and 2 appear to be down.
I hope that's enough information. I'm unsure what more would be needed. if at all. Right now, I need sleep. :)

server6 has an extended downtime but I think the failsave switchover takes care of that.
server2 has run out of space which is unfortunate as the failsave switchover tests for a 200 ok reply on index.html.. and that document is still accessible. I pinged the admin so hopefully when I get back from work I can upload the most current documents again.

glad to know my mirror is still going strong after all the troubles my host has been having :\

server2 has been resynched this afternoon - that leaves server6 which is still down and could be for a while more but there's an end in sight.

It appears there's only 3 mirrors working again. :( 1, 2 and 5 work fine; 3, 4 and 6 give Page Load Errors in FF3, and don't load in IE7 at all.

The main site is timing out for the past week - I can only access the forum. I tried pinging but keep getting
Pinging server6.doom9.org [193.66.203.225] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

server6 has been setup anew and is currently not properly configured yet. Server4 had an IP address change that I just put into the DNS config so it should propagate shortly. My DNS is supposed to catch such things though and not send you to a server that doesn't serve the news (it's checking for the news page and if it's not there, the server is removed from the round robin).
server3 has been dead for a while and won't be making a comeback unless somebody else steps up and provides another host (not having any ads and thus not being able to pay for hosting means little choice).

How o you know which Ip is server1,2,3 etc.? I cannot connect to the first page(I always get the news from 6/29).
Ping command (ping www.doom9.org) returns 80.169.198.206 with 4/4 packets lost...

6/29 was the last update because doom9 has been busy lately(And sadly as usual :()
server1 = 208.113.231.44
server2 = 193.30.277.40
server5 = 213.113.149.111
the other servers are still down(permanently I guess)

I'm suspicious about that address for server2....
I'm looking forward to your next update, Doom9!
