Help! This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to set up a HTPC with ONE player to reduce confusion and make it easy for the family to use.
I have both HD DVD and Blu Ray capability, recorded HD content (WMV in VC1 or MKV) and normal movies. Most are on the hard drive (since my wife cannot handle the disks without scratching them to to physical limitations) as either EVO or M2TS files, as well as the HD WMV. (yes I own each and every one of the movies except the recorded content)
Nero Showtime with the HD plugin plays most everything, but not the recorded WMV or MKV files? Total Media Theater won't play half of the EVO files on the hard drive for an unknown reason. I cannot get media player classic to play EVO files even tho I've spent hours using the setup guides trying. I'm tired of paying for programs that only do half of what I want!
Is there a program that will covert amongst the formats so I can put everything into one workable file format? Or is there a way to select different movie players in Media Center? I've even tried Media Portal and it allows only one player too! Or is there an idiots guide to setting up the different player? Like why won't Nero Showtime work with the HD WMV files?
