Hi,

Am using Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition. I have an AVI created with XVID and AC3 audio. I have installed the AC3Filter and FFDshow. When I play the file, audio works from the beginning and keeps working as long as I don't seek. As soon as I click on the blue bar to try to get anywhere into the movie, audio halts altogether.

I have tried the same movie with VLC player and MC12. Works fine in both, with seeking. So I will likely just use one of those two players, however it is bugging me that this doesn't work in WMP.

I have used GSpot to up the Filter Merit to ensure FFDShow audio decoders are used and I can see AC3Filter correctly comes up via the FFDshow icon during playback. Previously it was HCW AC3 but changing it did not change the behaviour. I have checked non-AC3 movies (MP3) and they seek just fine, it is only AC3 films which have this problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
R.

Hi!I have an AVI created with XVID and AC3 audio.it is only AC3 films which have this problem. Is it only one such .AVI that you've created, or all such .AVIs that you've created?

If it's only one specific AVI that you've created with XVID and AC3 audio:

1) What did you do differently in creating this problematic .AVI?

2) Please load the .AVI into GSpot and post a screen capture back here

Hmm, went to find another AC3 AVI I have, and it works. Interesting.

At any rate, here is a GSpot capture :

Answer to 2). Just about everything. Let me see.... upgraded from XP to Vista, new mobo, 4GB RAM, new PCI-E vid card, reinstalled everything from scratch, it's been awhile since I have been fooling around with vid files...

Thanks,
R.

Again, what did you do differently in creating this problematic .AVI? - Meaning what software and procedures did you use to create this problematic video.

And what software and procedures did you use to create the other AC3 AVI you have, and it works?
