Dark areas gone bad.

I have a source, most of the dark areas in it looks like this (extreme image)

How can I fix this, thought that something like Telecid or Decomb mayby?.. I am not sure though, did some experiments but no visible results.

Not the whole video is like this, so is there a need to define the dark areas, or the filter can detect them by it self? (Its 1 hour long >.>)

Explain what you find wrong with this image, nothing jumps out at me. Telecide/Decomb (same filter) are for removing interlacing artifacts, which I see none of. If it's banding, maybe it's just your monitor?

Hmmm....I dont know, I am sure I seeing it.
Indeed my monitor sucks big time, better get my self a new one..

and what I see is interlacing on dark areas...still do on the image. It's not happning with other videos though.

There is no interlacing in this image, just ringing n blocking around the edges and some banding in the background... Simply brighten the image up in Photoshop or teh like, zoom in, and check for ya self!

No interlacing at all... try gradfun2db() (http://kosmos.kawaii-shoujo.net/gradfun2db/gradfun2db-v1.0.zip), maybe it'll solve the problem you see... even if imo it's not a very big deal.

The first time I looked at it I couldn't see anything wrong. Then I moved the window from my LCD to a CRT, and the picture went black. No adjustment to the CRT settings improves it.
In short, get a LCD. :)

I still think there is something wrong, this is the only video with this kind of problem. I do better get my self a new monitor, till then -_-''

Well, afaik, one of the major difference between a LCD and a CRT is the level of brightess and contrast of the image... so maybe a simple tweak(cont=1.3, bright=30) or something like that could do the job...

acro29, could you upload 2 small "extreme" clips? One with the worst dark areas you have and one of the brightest scene you have.

I'd like to give it a try to see if I can find something that'd make everything look better on my LCD screen and then you could tell me if it helped on yours.
