I recently upgraded from win2k to XP after SP3 became available.
(actually it's a fresh install so don't let that confuse you)
I'm encountering a very strange problem where WMV3 streaming sources like CNN.com show highly distorted colours in Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic. Almost like a kaleidoscope effect, but it is playing and there is sound.
I've found two workarounds for this but I don't like either:
1. Switch to "older renderer" in MPC
2. Go into FFDSHOW and turn on it's WMV3 filter so everything goes through it.
For some reason if I do either one of the workarounds, which makes it work, the picture seems "soft" or very slightly blurred compared to my win2k install which was fairly sharp.
So any ideas how to diagnose this further?
