Hi I did a 1CD Rip and the result was 670 MB, although I followed Doom9s Guide.

Encodet using Divx4 with sharp bicubic filter.

VideoSize: 612050 kbyte.
Audio1Size: 95156 kbyte.
Audio2Size: 0 kbyte.
Overhead: 9593 kbyte. (1xmp3 vbr, encodet using GK)
AviSize: 716800 kbyte (700 mbyte).
FilesSize: 0 kbyte.
TotalSize: 716800 kbyte (700 mbyte).
Interleaving: vbrmp3
Bitrate: 823 k(=1000)Bits/s
Frames: 152259
FPS: 25.000
Duration: 1:41:30
Quality: 0.189 bits/(pixel*frame).
CompCheck3: 0.000 bits/(pixel*frame).
CompCheck4: 0.361 bits/(pixel*frame). ( 52%)
Resolution: 640 x 272

After Audio:

Audio 1, determined: 86083 kb
Audio 1, calc: 95156 kb
New Bitrate for Movie = 836 k(=1000)Bits/s

After Endcredits:

Assumed: Main Movie has 147181 Frames.
Assumed: Credits Part has 5078 Frames.
Credits Size = 7534Kb
New Bitrate for Movie = 854 k(=1000)Bits/s

I donīt see why this doesnīt work.
thx in advance

hello...try to change these settings :)

-on the audio, select the ac3 file that dvd2avi created...
-interleaving, chose no audio
-frames, chose 23.xxx---depending on your actual video bitrate that dvd2avi gave you
-on the field operation part (with the option to deinterlace, etc.) select none...

be sure that your bits:

It's not a good idea to go below 0.20 bits/pixel*frame
If you go above ~0.35 yo might not be able to reach your desired filesize
If you go for 1 CD stay close to 0.20
If you go for 2 CDs stay around 0.27
If TV bits/pixel*frame is below ~0.13 you should raise your bitrate (and go for more CDs).

i had similar problems and these are some of the changes i made...also on the triming, try to select 'movie only' instead of doing movie and credits...hope this helps out a bit :)

Well, i could leave out interleaving, but then this could result in oversizing problem using other DVDs.
Audio is done with the ac3 File, what I could try is just to trim the movie, but thats not suggested in the guide.
Thought about an obvious mistake made by me, because I donīt want to encode the DVDs twice.
The space Frame Overhead is used or not?
Or is this just a problem concerning DivX4 2pass?

Iīll try to trim different then.

why don't you guys just read some of the older posts or use the search funktion before you ask...

atm it is impossible to predict exact filesize for divx4. there is no trick that will always work, it's trial and error every time.

it's not gknot that calculates wrong. it's divx4 that doesn't stick to the bitrate. just read the last line of analyze.log.

if you use divx3, gknot/nandub will bring you within 200kb of your desired filesize.
