View Full Version : VirtualDub + adding subtitles through the stream option

How come when I try to add an .srt file through the Stream method... the end product doesn't recognize the subtitles. In VLC I don't see the "Subtitles" option.
It sometimes works for other .srt files, and VLC recognizes the newly added subtitle as a stream, but most of the other time, it doesn't.
What's the problem? Does anybody know?

Hi!
Exactly what are you referring to when you speak of VirtualDub and "the Stream method"?

VirtualDub panel - > Streams > Stream List >add.

I don't believe you'll find such listings in VirtualDub.
Perhaps you're using VirtualDubMOD?

What's container? MKV or OGM?
You try MKVtoolinx?
It's problem only in VLC?
What's VLC version?

To add srt to avi fine,
use DivXmux GUI. I don't think the "stream"
method in Virtualdubmod works....

Yes. VDM can't add subtitles (as stream) to AVI container.

Yes it works, but not always. I have added an .srt subtitle file to an AVI using THIS exact method and it works. The problem is - and that's why I started this thread - is that it doesn't work for all avi files. Majority of the AVI files I've tried adding subtitles to using the Stream method didn't work, but there was 1 or 2 files that recognized the subtitles after I added them in using the Stream method.
does this DivxMux only muxes DIVX encoded AVI files or can it also do XVID? I just tried muxing a subtitle to a DIV3 with this, and it said "Failed"
