Hi,

I have some questions about MP4 container. We would like to know about getting BIFS, OD from MP4 file and provide it to BIFS/OD decoders.

1) Similar to Audio and Video tracks, BIFS track has decoder specific info in stsd->decoder config desc field. What kind of information decoder specific info filed contains? How to generate BIFS stream from it? BIFS track has sample data similar to audio/video track. What kind of information sample data from stsz serve?

2) If I read BIFS & OD track then do I need to change the way I provide audio and video samples to decoder?

3) Does MPEG-4 part 11 provide any informatin about decoder specific info of BIFS track?

Any other information regarding verifying how BIFS works will be very much appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Dilip Patel

Information regarding BIFS Configuration and more about the Binary Format For Scenes is defined in MPEG-4 part 11.

To get an overview about BIFS look here:
http://www.chiariglione.org/mpeg/faq/mp4-sys/sys-faq-bifs.htm
http://www.chiariglione.org/mpeg/tutorials/papers/icj-mpeg4-si/05-BIFS_paper/5-BIFS_paper.htm

The Object Descriptor Stream (OD Track) is defined in MPEG-4 part 1.

If you are looking for an existing open source implementation, beside the reference implementation, take a look at GPAC. ( http://gpac.cvs.sourceforge.net/gpac/gpac/src/bifs/ http://gpac.cvs.sourceforge.net/gpac/gpac/src/odf/ ... )

For further support try to contact someone from GPAC: http://gpac.sourceforge.net/home_support.php
