Barebones problem

I just put together a barebones rig, actually all I had to do was install the drive's and the drivers, did so,tried to boot , no power, all extenal power and cable is good. Any ideas?

Check the back of the case, some PSUs come with switches, make sure is on.

If you have more than one stick of RAM, try booting on just one, switch around the slots, etc, try all the combinations you can. I'm reading a lot of problems with RAM lately, I had one that wouldn't power up, wouldn't hit a lick, removed two sticks of RAM and it worked fine, and the RAM I took out is working fine in another computer with the exact same mobo.

This might sound daft, but actually check the front power switch is connected to the right pins on the motherboard.

Test the power supply.

Disconnect it from everything, except a couple fans to give it a load.

Then, take a spare bit of wire, and jump two pins on the main ATX 20 / 24 pin connector.

The green wire is the power switch, so jump it to any of the black (ground) wires. The PSU should fire right up. If it does, then you should set up the system on some wood or the motherboard box (not the static bag!!) in a minimal config like this:

PSU, Motherboard, CPU

See if it will at least power up. Then add components until it doesn't You will then know!
