How do I get VDubMod to generate a crash log...or find its location if this is automatic?

When I try to encode an avi and click on the "Change Compression" button it immediately crashes. It does display a test window for a split second but it's too fast to read...all I can catch is "OMP Abort". ANy help/guidance is appreciated.

Hi!When I try to encode an aviWhat are the formats (video and audio) of the source material you're loading into VirtualDubMod?

Isn't VirtualDubMod sort of obsolete now anyway? Do you get the same crash with the latest version of the regular VirtualDub?

Thanks for trying to help here.

It's a Media100 Quicktime .mov file I am opening using avisynth and QTSource. It's got standard PCM audio.

I've just tried the newest stable VirtualDub (thanks for the tip!) and I'm able to start rendering out an avi using the lagarith lossless codec this time...but now it is freezing VDub and my system part way through the render OR it never completes...just keeps trying to render and not closing past where it should end. This method used to work great until recently...something has changed, suspect Windows, possibly Quicktime. Or are you saying it could be something with the sound format?

So any clues on how to get an error log file from VDub?

2) Load the .MOV into GSpot and post a screen capture back here

Sorry it took a while to reply...holiday weekend here.

No discernible glitches or bad frames...

It's something with VDub, as I tried rendering with HCEnc with no trouble. Here's the GSpot snap:

Perhaps the (large) filesize is a contributing factor to your problem?

Size has never been a problem for me...

I typically run quite a lot of 45 to 50 gig 10bit blackmagic codec QT movie files through with no problem...and haven't had a problem with the Media100 codec files until relatively recently.

What I really need help with here is how to get an error log out of VDub? I know how to search but have spent a lot of time and have come up empty. Thanks for any help and input.

For the sake of completion it turned out the problem stemmed from a malfunctioning hard drive (my system drive). It failed completely and after I replaced it and reinstalled everything all worked properly as before. It all makes sense now but i hadn't considered hardware failure.

Thanks again to everyone for your help.:thanks:
