hi,

now, I rip DVDs for 1 or 2 months and try to find a better way to do it always ;) !

So, maybe you can help me, I'm sure with some tips from the experts my DVD-rips become much more better than now ;)

O.K., here is my way (I try to write everything I do, so u can tell me if u do something differnet or better than me):

1. SmartRipper 2.40 (clear!)
2. DVD2AVI
Video => iDCT -> 64-bit ; ColorSpace -> YUV
Audio => DD & MPEG -> Auto Select & Demux All Tracks
3. Gordian Knot:
[list]DivX Encoding Control Panel => Audio 1 => MP3, custom Parameters (Experts) -> Lame: --alt-preset 128
4. Gordian Knot: Bitrate => Interleaving & Avi-Overhead => 1x vbr-mp3
5. Codec : DivX 3
6. Gordian Knot: Bitrate => Total Size => 2 CDs á 695MB

Yes, that are the most important things I use!

For expample: Some people work with the NanDUB Stats file, I dont!
Maybe it is important to get a better quality.
In G-Knot, I just use the register "Ripping", "Bitrate" and "Resolution" , not more! I guess that's not the perfect way ;)

Can u help me and tell me which step I could make better?

oh you're creating stats files alright.. nandub can't work without it.. it's just that you never see this.. gknot launches nandub to do a regular first pass which creates the stats file, then launches a 2nd pass with that stats file.
