Hi all,

I have been using MPC Homecinema 1.1 + Purevideo for some months now, trying ffdshow on and off.

I have compiled a little list of problems I was having with menu highlighting and de-interlacing and seem to be seeing a pattern. My observations are below, I am wondering can anyone help me come to a compromise.

Note these settings happen across driver versions, aswell as purevideo de-interlacing settings.

*** Purevideo + 7600GT with latest drivers***

* Hardware Acceleration Off

DVD Menu's highlight correctly.
Always gets de-interlacing mode right but interlaced content not super smooth like with the pixel adaptive de-interlacing available in hardware mode.
De-interlace film mode: Displays 16-235 range (black appears black)
De-interlace video mode: Displays 16-235 range (black appears black)

* Hardware Acceleration On
Gets de-interlacing mode wrong 50% of the time leaving horrible image quality.
Interlaced content perfectly smooth with pixel-adaptive de-interlacing.
DVD Menu's do not highlight correctly (mostly not at all).
De-interlace film mode: Displays 0-255 range (black appears grey) :(
De-interlace video mode: Displays 16-235 range (black appears black)

------------

ffdshow has not given me proper menu highlighting either nor has it been able to detect when to de-interlace or when not either.....

------------
Some little renderer specific quirks that I found along the way trying to get a working setup.

**VMR7 Windowed Specific
*Hardware
Works and seems to detect correct de-interlacing mode but won't allow me to click on menu items.

**VMR7 Renderless Specific

*Hardware
Does not work, reverts to software.

**EVR Specific
*Hardware
Does not work, reverts to software.

------------

Basically if I can achieve three things I will be happy:

1) Hardware mode with correct de-interlacing mode detection like in software (or a good software de-interlacer that can do the smoothing)

2) Fix the menu highlighting problem I have always had through the last few months.

3) No more messing with colour ranges, or at least an easy way / setting to choose between colour ranges.

Any ideas for registry settings / software changes.
