I'm trying to do what I thought would be a simple thing: convert an .mpg file from my HD DVR into an mkv file that can be used in TSMuxer to burn a blu-ray (DVD9).
I have no trouble making HD-DVDs or Blu-rays using the various methods. But this is the first time I've had an .mpg file so large that needs compression for it to fit. And rather than compressing with mpeg2, I figured a more efficient codec would be best.
All I want is an app that lets me encode an H.264 file with the 4.1 profile, keeping the audio intact. I get the impression that megui might be the best choice but its options are overwhelming.
The more I read the less I seem to know in this matter. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
