Hi

I have searched around, but cannot locate the advice i want. I am using as video editors avidemux and virtualdub with my main codec at the moment xvid.

Some of the video I am editing is live music, i have the video as I want it, but is there a best method to enhance the sound quality that is remove random noise(spacial noise) and enhance clarity.

I assume I could split the video and sound and then run the sound via audacity and then attempt a to sync it back up but from most evidence syncing can be quite complex.

Any suggestions on the best process/method to follow/experiment with ?

cheers

If you use Audio>Full Processing in VirtualDub and then Save as WAV, you shouldn't have sync problems.

so that saves the video track and sound file together but sound as wav and then I would just need to saves as mp3 format in audacity to save clip. Is that correct ?

No, it should be pretty simple to export a WAV from VirtualDub, open that in Audacity, edit, save as WAV again, and then bring back into VirtualDub without any compression to MP3 ever happening.

I've done similar things before, and as long as your audio isn't VBR MP3 to begin with you should have no problems. VBR MP3 can introduce issues with sync, but it shouldn't be a problem with recent builds of VirtualDub.
