I am interested in purchasing a new pc with relatively quick video converting speeds to put my anime dvds on my ps3. Could someone tell me what to look for? Thanks

Core 2 Quad. Nuff said.
No other processor can give so much performance for so little money!
Have you ever built a PC before? If not, would you be comfortable trying? It's rather simple.
If not, there are good quad core systems from Dell and HP for relatively little money. Assuming you're in the U.S. - HP has the m9200t series which offers a Q6600 2.4 GHz Quad Core, 3 GB of RAM, Vista Home Premium, GeForce 8400, a 750gb hard drive, and an HDTV ATSC tuner all for $940. No LCD, but a killer deal :)

can the 8400 do DXVA?
if not I'd go for an 8800
sooner or later we're going to have some nice avisynth plugins/source filters for DXVA decoding, or so I'd think, unless theres something about DXVA I'm missing
but yeah
quad core all the way
they're getting cheaper by the day
theres some good dual quad boards around for decent prices as well if you have the budget

Not sure. 8800gt / 8800gts would be a cheap upgrade.

The 8500/8600 series can, they were doing it better than the 8800 series before the 8800 series got the updated core.
