MeGui - Sync prob - Howl's Moving Castle (Anime)

I'm having a sync problem. I'm not sure what is causing it. I'm not sure if it's the DVD, Ripping or Demuxing.

I read somewhere that one cause of sync is dvd decrypting. I used th newest DVD Decrypter. I played all the VOB's and they are all in sync.

I also made sure to get the framerate correct in the RC and Me tab for the keyframe (240) and GOP (24).

Howl's Moving Castle (anime) was my first movie using MeGUI. The audio comes to early while playing both on my PC and my xbox.

While playing on my xbox with xbox media center I can set the xbox to delay the audio by -1.7 seconds which is extremely close to being in sync.

I've tried to remux the audio with a -1.7 sec (-1700ms) delay with both MeGUI and YAMB. It makes no difference what I set the audio delay to, I can't get it to change a bit.

I've even tried renaming my file from

VIDEO_TS Track 1 English DELAY 0ms.mp3

to:

VIDEO_TS Track 1 English DELAY -1700ms.mp3

and when I load the file up with MeGUI, -1700 is automatically filled into the delay box.

After it muxes it back together, there is no difference, the audio is still 1.7sec to early.

The audio delay in MeGUI doesn't seem to be doing anything.

For an experiment, I tried MeGUI on a different movie, and it turned out fine. no sync problems.

Hi!I used th newest DVD Decrypter.The "newest" version of the long-discontinued DVD Decrypter is v.3.5.4 from about three years (or more) ago.

On the other hand, if you actually mean DVDFab HD Decrypter, there have been many posts indicating that it doesn't always yield "perfect" results.

I'd suggest you try re-ripping the original DVD with the RipIt4Me "package" (which actually makes use of DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4)...

yes, I used the newest ver of DVD Decrypter which was DVD Decrypter is v.3.5.4.0 by code lightning.

I still have sync problems.

When I play the ripped VOB's the sync is still good. I'm not sure where the de-sync-ing is occuring.

After I finish the MeGUI project and mux it all together, the movie is out of sync with the audio coming aprox 1.7 sec too early.

I have tried to re-mux it with a -1700ms delay, but the audio is still 1.7 sec ahead even after re-muxing it with the delay.

I tried a different movie with MeGUI and the sync is fine.

I don't understand why using a -1700ms delay during muxing has no effect, is that normal? I even tried the delay with YAMB with no effect.

Try ripping the movie and split files by cell id. Check if there are any vob cells that contain no movie data (open them in your movie player), and delete them... then run dgindex on the remaining vobs.

I had the same problem with totoro, and a few other animes like evangelion. This solution works every time.

dvd decrypter, either ifo or file mode... in the options menu select file splitting and set to cellid, then rip as your normally would.

This method is also handy for episodic content, as you can select the cells that equate to one episode... instead of doing multiple rips... or cutting.

Again, I'd suggest you try re-ripping the original DVD with the RipIt4Me "package", so as to properly handle the "Ripguard" copy protection of "Howl's Moving Castle"...

I got the movie just way I wanted, dual language, subtitles, and chapters. Looks great, all in sync.

Man was that movie a pain in the but, I worked on it everyday for a week.

RipIt4Me alone did not work. When I used Ripit4Me on the whole Disc the sync problems actuall got worse.

What finally worked was to Rip just the main movie with DVDfab, save it as an ISO, mount the ISO and rip it again with Ripit4Me.
