DVDFabPlatinum problem

Recently, on attempts to back up dvd's, dvdfabplatinum has been failing me, it goes through and prompts a reading error, and the dvd's are old in stature, in mint condition, and dvdfabplatinum has a problem reading them, and even a recent dvd, "christine's revenge" .. any advice is appreciated, or even a suggestion on any other program is appreciated (dvd shrink even fails on these dvd's as well)

1) Based on some earlier posts you've made, it's possible that your drive is failing

2) Try using RipIt4me instead of DVD Fab Platinum

3) Try using DVDFabHD Decrypter instead of DVD Fab Platinum

4) Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your reader/burner. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US

5) Try using a different DVD reader/burner

I used dvd fab hd as well, ran a cleaning disc, and updated the drivers on my dvd reader/burner (which was the reason for the problems i had had recently)... with the newer movie "christine's revenge" i noticed several pauses in the movie when i played it (on a dvd player) so that solves the problem with that, i'll google to get ripit4me

ripit4me didnt work on any of the 3 dvd's i was having problems with, must be the movies themself, i was able to do 137 others with dvd shrink, and dvdfab platinum without any problems

What are the Titles and Region numbers of the three problematic DVDs?

Did you purchase them as "New" or "Used" DVDs? I ask because, used DVDs can be polished to appear to be "in mint condition" when, in fact, they've been polished to the point of being unreadable.

If you purchased them as "New", return them to the place of purchase in exchange for new replacements...

They were purchased new, they were not encrypted, i didn't realize there were open, or empty cells on them, i simply checked "remove empty cells...." and the movie was then able of being backed up... i appreciate the input

yes, problem solved, i was able to back up the originals... it's always the last thing thought of, go figure
