I encoded a DVD to AVI with mencoder (1.0rc2) with hardcoded subtitles in the AVI. The subtitle source is the vobsub data on the dvd. (-slang nl)
Subtitles are displayed properly (including the annoying semi-transparency). But when the subtitle disappears some of the graphical data remains, usually the last row of white pixels and/or some pixels near the right end of the old subtitle. It is as if the subtitle is not properly removed completely.
The pixels do not disappear until some new subtitle appears that is overwriting those pixels. This could take quite some time leaving lots of garbage white junk on the screen.
Is this caused by the source data on my DVD, could it be an mencoder subtitle rendering bug? Any ideas how to fix this or work around it?
